Private Sittings

reading

You are eligible for only one private sitting and only if you live in an area which does not have access to scheduled public sittings.

Private sittings are also permitted in cities outside of British Columbia where public sittings are scheduled, but cannot be held within two weeks of the scheduled sitting.

All private sittings require the prior permission of the LPI Office.

NOTE: The results of tests administered by private sitting are subject to verification by re-test (no charge for first re-test at a public sitting in B.C.) at the discretion of the LPI Test Security Committee. If re-testing is required, the scores from your private sitting will not be considered to be valid and will not be released until after they have been confirmed by re-test. Non-Canadian candidates living in Canada are not eligible for an international private sitting.

How do I arrange for a private sitting?

If you wish to arrange for a private sitting you will need to do two things:

  • register with the LPI office to write the test

  • arrange for a test supervisor

To register for a private sitting download the 2010 Application Guide & Schedule and fill in the LPI Private Sitting Registration Application (on Page 8).

You may pay by money order (CDN Funds) or Visa/MasterCard/AMEX.

If you are paying by credit card, make sure to include your:

  • card number

  • expiry date

  • signature of the card holder

Private sitting prices are as follows:

Canada

$150.00 + TAX (CDN)

All other countries

$200.00 (CDN)

* Prices subject to change without notice

Prices include courier/mailing costs to the destination. For sittings within Canada, pre-paid return post is included. For international sittings, you are responsible for the cost of returning the test to the LPI Office.

The test supervisor may be a secondary school or college principal, vice principal, a university professor, or a counselor from guidance or student services. If none of these options are possible, you must speak to the LPI coordinator to make other arrangements.

If your supervisor charges for the supervision services, it is your responsibility to pay the fee.

Supervisors must mail or fax a letter to the LPI Office on their official school letterhead telling us that they are willing to supervise your test, giving your name, and supplying their mailing address for the courier.

Once the LPI Office has received your application, payment, and letter from the supervisor, the LPI test, instructions and LPI Admission Ticket will be couriered to the supervisor. Any study books ordered will also be included in this package. You and your supervisor can then arrange when and where the exam will be written. Results of the test will be mailed to you within four weeks of the test and will be included in the next Score Report sent to institutions.
